Fragmented Score, a shattered memory carried by music. 🎻
Contemporary work, Partition Fragmentée is based on an archive photograph of Jules Boucherit, violinist and pedagogue from the beginning of the 20th century.
The image is deconstructed, repeated, fragmented into a series of squares, where each portion becomes a visual note. The horizontal lines evoke musical staves, structuring the whole like a true score.
The composition plays on symmetry and repetition, creating an almost hypnotic rhythm. The fragments assemble and respond to one another, forming a visual vibration that echoes the resonance of the violin. The fragmented face becomes more discreet, almost anonymous, giving way to an inner presence, silent yet powerful.
This work offers a sensitive interpretation of Jules Boucherit's life. Behind the renowned musician and professor at the Paris Conservatory, a figure emerges, marked by commitment and courage, particularly during the Second World War. The fragmented image reflects this diffuse memory, composed of traces, gestures, and the passing down of traditions.
Through this collage, the image becomes a musical score, and the score becomes memory. The work explores the link between rhythm, history, and interiority, like a wave that travels through time and continues to vibrate.
