What type of wood is used for the sculptures?

I use exclusively oak for all my sculptures. Oak is a wood of great nobility, renowned for its strength, durability, and timeless beauty.

In Celtic tradition, the oak tree is considered sacred due to its grandeur and longevity, symbolizing strength, wisdom, and resilience. By choosing oak, I incorporate a spiritual and protective dimension into each of my works, highlighting its unique character and natural richness.

 
Are the sculptures handmade?

The entire process requires many hours of careful and passionate work.

Each sculpture begins with an idea inspired by nature, abstract forms, or cultural motifs. This initial vision is followed by a preparatory drawing that will serve as the basis for the creation of the work.

The rough wooden board is then carefully prepared. It is first planed to obtain a perfectly flat surface, then planed to ensure uniform thickness and parallel surfaces.

Once the board is ready, the desired shape is traced onto it. This sketch serves as a guide for cutting, which is carried out precisely using a scroll saw. After cutting, the piece is carefully sanded by hand to smooth the surfaces and edges.

Each sculpture is finally marked with the "Atelier Le Govic" signature and treated with a natural vegetable oil. This treatment protects the wood while highlighting its natural beauty.

 

How to care for wooden sculptures?

To preserve the beauty of your sculpture, clean it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid exposing it to moisture, intense heat, or direct sunlight.

 

Durability: Over time, the wooden sculpture will naturally enhance its texture and color, revealing its full beauty.
