About
Celtic Nations
A vibrant ode to the Celtic nations and Brittany, celebrating their rich cultural heritage, ancestral traditions and deep connection with the sea.
The Celtic nations—Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Brittany, Cornwall, Asturias, and the Isle of Man—provide endless inspiration. Their heritage, steeped in myths, symbols, and traditions, provides fertile ground for my artistic creations to flourish.
Brittany, with its rugged cliffs, wild beaches, and endless marine horizons, occupies a fundamental place in my work. The constant interaction between land, ocean, and maritime forces forges the very essence of my sculptures. Marine fauna, with its dolphins and seals, inspires my forms with their fluidity and grace, while seaweed, such as fucus and kelp, brings unique textures and volumes to my works.
The oak, a sacred tree in Celtic tradition for its grandeur and longevity, symbolizes strength and wisdom. Often associated with deities and spiritual rites, it embodies the bridge between the earthly world and the spiritual world. This symbolism of resilience and protection is infused into my sculptures, giving them a sacred depth.
Music and dance, vibrating to the rhythm of the bombarde and the bagpipe, also stimulate my creativity. By sculpting dance scenes or wind instruments like the bagpipe, I seek to capture the energy and festive spirit of these traditions in the material.
[Artist Statement]
Throughout the recorded history of our world, and perhaps far beyond, artists and their works have always been sources of discovery and inspiration. From artifacts left behind to creations yet to be born, art awakens within us a profound sense of connection and reflection on our existence.
Being an artist is, in my eyes, one of the greatest privileges. It is a path of dedication and exploration that never ends. Each idea brings new perspectives and opens the way to a shared sense of meaning and emotion.
