Wood carving

Cutting wood is transforming it into a work of art through precise movements.

It all begins with preparing the design and the wood. I carefully define every detail of the design to be cut, whether simple or complex. The model is created by hand or using specialized software to guarantee optimal precision. Once the design is finalized, I transfer it onto the wood using carbon paper or temporary glue, depending on the project. The choice of wood is crucial: it must be thin enough to facilitate cutting, yet robust enough to ensure the durability of the finished piece.

Next, I prepare my tools. I mainly use a scroll saw, either manual or electric. The blade is carefully chosen according to the type of wood and the complexity of the design. Meticulous preparation of the tools is essential to ensure clean cuts and prevent any damage to the wood.

During the cutting process, I make sure to position the board correctly and carefully follow the lines. For tight curves or complex shapes, I adjust the saw angle and, if necessary, drill holes in the board to insert the blade and cut out the internal patterns. I maintain consistent pressure to avoid splintering or errors that could compromise the design's accuracy.

Once the cutting is complete, I proceed with the finishing touches. I sand the edges to smooth them and remove any small imperfections left by the saw. If the project involves several pieces to assemble, I carefully adjust them before gluing them together.

Finally, depending on the desired effect, I apply a coat of varnish, paint, or leave the piece natural. My goal is to create a timeless work, where the raw beauty of the material is revealed in every detail.
