Wood carving

Cutting wood means transforming it into a work of art using precise gestures.

It all begins with preparing the design and the support. I take care to define every detail of the pattern to be cut, whether simple or complex. The model is created by hand or using specialized software to ensure optimal precision. Once the pattern is designed, I transfer it to the wood using carbon paper or temporary glue, depending on the project. The choice of wood is crucial: it must be thin enough to facilitate cutting, yet remain sturdy to ensure the durability of the creation.

Next, I prepare my tools. I mainly use a scroll saw, either manual or electric.

The blade is carefully chosen based on the wood species and the complexity of the design. Careful tool preparation is essential to ensure clean cuts and avoid damage to the wood.

When cutting, I make sure to position the board correctly and follow the outline carefully. For tight curves or complex shapes, I adjust the angle of the saw and, if necessary, perforate the board to insert the blade and cut out the interior designs. I maintain constant pressure to avoid splintering or errors that could affect the accuracy of the design.

Once the cut is complete, I proceed with the finishing touches. I sand the edges to smooth them and remove any small rough spots left by the saw. If the project involves several pieces to be assembled, I carefully adjust them before gluing them together.

Finally, depending on the desired effect, I apply a layer of varnish, paint, or leave the piece natural. My goal is to create a timeless work, where the raw beauty of the material is revealed in every detail.
